Bing Says Facebook Tops Google

The financial section of my Bing Web browser reported to me this morning that Facebook had topped Google as the most-visited Web site in the U.S. for the week  that ended March 13, 2010.  Facebook visits making up 7.07% of all Web visits and Google visits came in at 7.03% that week.

According to HitWise, it was the first time Google came in at No. 2 since the week ending Sept. 15, 2007.

Facebook was also the most-visited site on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, Hitwise said.

The market share of visits to Facebook surged 185% last week from the same week in 2009, while Google visits were only up only 9% year over year.

Internet Marketers who have been predicting the demise of Facebook may need to rethink.   In their rush to the next big marketing thing – Twitter – they may have buried a healthy Facebook.  Facebook and Google together make a pretty strong Internet team accounting for a little over 14% of all U.S. Internet visits last week.
